awesome game, really lovely execution, and seriously charming!! ended up super engrossed in the layout of the NDS-like interface and the room itself. LOVE the details it oozes, will be thinking about this a while.
thaank yoou!! amet really did an amazing job with the maze designs + art, they look so stunning and are also so relaxing to move through... happy you enjoyed!
What a beautiful, lovely, sweet, outstanding game. I cannot stress enough how touching this is.
Each moving piece to this creation works with each other perfectly. Nothing felt out of place-- I can tell that everyone involved really put their best foot forward and connected to create something so touching. The desk growing cluttered with dolly materials was awfully familiar hehe...
I will be playing this over and over again to see what combinations I may end up with, but attached is my first :,3 Thank you all for creating something so spectacular, and thank you so very much for participating in the jam!!!
pilot T_T thank you for organizing such a wonderful jam!!! it's been so fun to make something for it, and i'm happy you felt so touched by what we all put together <3 and i love your doll, this is one of my favorite heads...
this is such a freaking cool concept with such attention to detail packed into something so short! honestly so impressed, and i love how everyone is sharing what they got!! great work :D
thank you!! and yes we're all over the moon so many people are sharing their dolls, we really love seeing them (and with that finding out which items spoke the most to people)... <33
What a sweet game! The art and music and dreamy feeling of the prose all add such a lovely depth to the game, and I love how it's up to the player to choose the items they want to keep, however they want to interpret the items! I also really love the old Nintendo DS feeling of the UI, it's so charming and nostalgic! Thank you for creating and sharing such a cute and lovely game~!
thank you so much for such kind and lovely words :,) adding in the music really felt like the special glue to tie together the game, jemi did a wonderful job
OMG this was so cool!!! I love the music and artstyle and just how much is implied with the changing layout of your room and the tiny descriptions of the pieces you collect. This is the first game I’ve tried from the doll+kigu jam and it’s setting a high bar ^^ I had a great time with this
thanks for playing!! we are in very very good company in this jam, pilot's really organized something incredible. i hope you enjoy the other entries :)
Wow this was such a cute little game! I liked the different little sections between the narrative, the tiny search and find, and then the maze to pick out your pieces for the doll. I just went with what I liked, but I'd be very curious to see what all the different combos could be!
Question - were you supposed to be able to retry any section for a new part? I only got the option to take or leave a piece starting with the hair, so my head and body were already locked in
Hi Jay, thanks so much for playing our game, cute doll!
The game doesn't have any kind of "retry for a different piece" within a single game session, but it's hopefully short enough that if you wanted to try for something different you could replay it sometime :)
Hi, thanks for playing our game and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
If you have the time and wouldn't mind helping me track down that bug, would you be able to provide some more details around what happened? I'm guessing you were combining the blue sequins and the brown button when making the doll's eyes, and that made the doll disappear from the main area? Did it come back afterwards or did it stay missing?
Any extra info helps, but totally optional. Thanks again!
i think for the first stage i had the flower ring + fang. i don't remember the second stage unfortunately, but after the third stage when i combined the blue sequins and the brown button, the resulting area where the doll would've been was empty, even when back at the desk area. i refreshed the page after that however, so im not sure if it stayed missing. thanks for the reply!
It was such a tender experience to build the doll while the room came together. Every element of this game was so intricate and shiny and elegant without being superfluous... Really looking forward to anything this team cooks up next. Go make some dolls!!
Really beautiful writing and loved the artstyle. A super interesting concept for a dress up game. I totally look forward to seeing more from the creator!
first attempt was sorta like.. trying to make a character? finding a theming and trying to stick with it. i think i did well enough!! second attempt is what spoke to me personally and i'm much more fond of it.. <3 what a delightful game i had so much fun playing (and will do a few more attempts of once i post this, hehe) i absolutely love this gameplay it's so. unique? or unfamiliar to me at least. but it scratched a very specific itch in my brain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was super charming! It took me a few moments to figure out how the maze worked (I thought that I had to select items before I started walking), but I really enjoyed the presentation. The unpacking of the boxes over the days told a nice story.
I ended up with a very nautical doll! Makes sense with all the sea themed items I chose. The descriptions for each item were very lovely; they were very personal yet they also sounded like something that I would own (like the museum pamphlet). The minigame to pick which items to make the doll was cute. I was stumped at times because each item, despite the short descriptions and time I owned them, were hard to part with.
"despite the short descriptions and time I owned them, were hard to part with." <- this is soooo sweet :') Thank you for your kind words and for showing us your doll!
This was such a well-designed game! I loved how it took me back playing on the DS, how I wished I had a stylus when selecting on the all the pieces and guiding the doll through the beautiful labyrinths. I also rly enjoyed just how charming the writing was, detailing our player's life, giving hints to their outside world while finding a comfort in dollmaking/past while navigating a new place.
My doll turned out really cute, and I can't wait to replay see the other combinations <3
THIS IS REALLY LOVELY. The doll I got feels super fitting for my tastes since I love eerie/uncanny girls (I wish I had taken a screenshot before the clothing part because I really liked the glass heart window design. I'll replay so I can do that because I definitely want to draw her!)
First of all I really love the style of the interface, it reminds me of the Nintendo DS which feels really nostalgic! (I assume it's supposed to be a kit box which are clampshell-designed, but the DS was what popped in my head first haha)
The writing was really well done. I love how the narrative slowly shows the viewer that the MC has let their time (and their life?) be consumed by building this doll, especially the lines about other people having to check up on them. The ending where the doll has allowed them to be anchored to their new home was really sweet (Coquina means shellfish so I think the MC moved to a seaside city).
I adored the environments changing after we choose the parts. The leaves of the tree representing the head/mind, the rivers representing the body, the fish area being the eyes, and the strands of hair were all beautifully drawn.
This was such a charming concept to do for a dollmaker! I really enjoyed playing this. You guys did amazing!
minaaa thanks for the wonderful thoughts :,) coquina is also a very cool type of sedimentary rock, built up of little clamshells that retain their shape to a really interesting degree. it's what you see in the start screen bg! amet did a beeeaautiful job with the maze designs, i'm happy you enjoyed them. thank you for playing <3
That was engaging and fun in a strange way for me. Usually not a big fan of point and click but the feel of the game made me what to continue. Not sure what i did but i got this this. Graphics are great!
If you dont mind feedback, i think if would want to push this game on another level (which i believe this game almost achieve) it would be nice to draw more the contrast between "good" and "bad" decisions for the dolls. What i mean is more dark your decisions, more dark are the next items and the environnement. Because i replayed again to test it more, and even if i like the variety in the result, the gameplay and feel of the environement feels too similar.
I try to purposefully make a "evil gothic" decision route:

So cute!!!

very cool concept for a dress up game! would love to see what outputs all the combinations have.
also minor bug report: combining the scales + button made the doll disappear!

I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Drawing all the box bgs was a lot of work haha but I think it was worth. Thank you for playing!!

ToT this is so sweet and thoughtful!! And you're correct, we based the screen partially off a DS ;)
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and showing us your doll!!
